Hi! My name is Donald Hite. I am an active musician and music educator in the Southeast Houston area. In addition to my private suzuki studio, I teach private woodwind and string lessons in Clear Creek ISD as a contracted private instructor. I have also worked as a classroom teacher, teaching band and orchestra in Houston ISD and band in Clear Creek ISD.
As a performer, I have played violin/viola in the Clear Lake, Galveston, and San Angelo Symphonies as well as playing woodwinds in the pit orchestra for many local musicals. I currently work for South Main Baptist Church in Houston as a clarinetist (as occasional violist!). Additionally, I have done extensive arranging/composing work for various local schools and churches.
I hold a B.S. in Sociology/Anthropology from the University of Houston Clear Lake (2005). In addition to social sciences, I studied clarinet and strings extensively in college.
I hold a Texas Educator’s Certificate in Music and Early Childhood through 6th Grade Generalist, and I am certified in Suzuki Units 1-7 for Violin, Units 1-5 for Viola, and Unit 1 for both recorder and guitar. I am an active member and registered Suzuki teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the Southeast Texas Suzuki Association. You can view my up-to-date Suzuki training transcript here.

I am very passionate about teaching music to children because I know the benefits it will hold for them in the present and the future. In addition to being fun and challenging, studying music helps children learn important values like patience, discipline, perseverance, and appreciation of beauty (just to name a few).
It would be my pleasure to guide you and your student on an amazing musical journey!
